On achievement of a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills, candidates may proceed to the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, where they will be considered Trainee Counsellors. This is a recognised training course which develops levels of professional competency in counselling practice. The qualification meets the requirement for recognition as a qualified counsellor, following successful external assessment and completion of 100 supervised client hours.
Through our conglomerate Windsor Forest Colleges Group, and providing there is an adequate level of competency, learners are offered 30 supervised client hours at Slough & Langley College and/ or BCA College.
We have a range of experienced tutors, each with unique skills and expertise. Throughout the course, learners will be assigned to tutors to support learning.
Learners will complete this qualification with a comprehensive and full understanding of the following:
– How to conduct a counselling session with a client in an ethical, and safe way
– Ethical frameworks, including setting up a working agreement and conducting assessments, supervision and casework management.
– Counselling in a diverse society
– One major therapeutic model (Person-centred) while acquiring knowledge of CBT, Psychodynamic TA and Gestalt
-Professional organisational issues in counselling including basic knowledge of major mental health issues
– The important of awareness in the counselling process
– Research into counselling
