Mark Bramwell, Associate Director for Sixth Form Colleges at the Association of Colleges, paid a visit to Strode's College on 12th September. Mark has extensive knowledge of the sixth form sector, having been a sixth form college principal for 18 years. He was also Chair of the Sixth Form Colleges’ Forum for two years.
Mark is due to meet with Michael Gove shortly and he is visiting a number of sixth form colleges to get their views on the key issues that they want him to raise with the Secretary of State for Education.
During his visit to Strode’s, Mark had a meeting with members of the College’s Leadership Team. High on their agenda was the high cost of transport for students getting to college, changes to the way Ofsted inspections will now take place, managing the impact of the national funding cuts and the forthcoming review of AS and A levels. Mark’s visit ended with a tour of the College, during which he was impressed by the recent and current work the College was completing to improve its science laboratories and teaching facilities.
