Students at Strode's College Egham are celebrating their successes following the release of yet another set of excellent examination results in 2012.
More than 470 students took one or more A level at Strode’s in 2012, with almost 1250 entries. Many of these students also combined their A levels with BTEC qualifications, additional AS levels or the increasingly popular Extended Project Qualification. A further 40 second year students took Level 3 BTECs as their main course.
There was an overall pass rate of 98% at A Level and 100% pass rate for Level 3 BTECs.
100% pass rates were achieved in 27 A level subjects and in all nine BTEC subjects; 50% of the BTEC grades were Distinctions or Distinction Starred.
Eleven students achieved three or more A* and A grades at A level including George Daubney (ex-Sunbury Manor School) who gained A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Physics which is more than enough for him to take up his place at Cambridge University to read Engineering. A further 13 students achieved the equivalent of three A* or A grades by gaining three Distinctions in their Level 3 BTEC courses.
Amongst the many delighted students who were collecting results today was a trio of students who came to Strode’s from Twickenham Academy. Mario Shaid, Pardis Zalmay and Ravishankar Balasubramanian all achieved A grades in four A levels, with Mario and Ravi gaining A* grades in Maths. Ex-Magna Carta pupils Harry Rose and Glen Ireland both achieved two A*s, an A and a B and Mary Symons (ex-Matthew Arnold School) achieved one A* and two As. Other students with top grades include Joshua Coyston (ex-Jubilee High School) who gained one A*, two As and a B and Hannah Dodds (ex-Thamesmead School) who achieved an A* and two As. Erfan Masiha (ex-Christ’s School, Sheen) and Ahmed Belkarty (ex-Feltham Community College) also achieved great results with three As and a B each.
Students who achieved a treble distinction in the Extended BTEC Diploma in Sport were Jason Boxx (ex-Chiswick Community School), Samuel Boyd (ex-Norholt High School), James Cranston (ex-Hampton Academy), Jake Joslin (ex-Jubilee High School), Callum Quick (ex-Matthew Arnold School) and Robert Stevenson (ex-Thamesmead School). Students who achieved a treble distinction in the Extended BTEC Diploma in Travel & Tourism were Vogue Bell (ex-Sunbury Manor School), Amie Bristow (ex-Charters School), Holly Candlin (ex-Thamesmead School), Beth Fox-Clinch (ex-Hampton Academy), Kirsty Garnett (ex-Magna Carta School), Aaron Laskowski (ex-Hampton Academy) and Jacqueline Zamat (ex-Thamesmead School).
Commenting on the results, Principal Anne Fielding Smith showed her delight and congratulated students on the high level of achievements: ‘We are very proud of our students’ achievements. So many students have achieved fantastic success with us at Strode’s College and we are absolutely delighted for them. As always, these results reflect a huge amount of hard work by students, College staff and support from parents. We wish all our students the very best for the future and thank them for the contribution they have made to the ongoing academic success of the College’.
