Celebrations all round as the 100% attendance campaign reached the finale. Hundreds of Strode’s students turned out in force to be commended again for achieving 100% attendance in every single lesson on their timetable over the past academic year and demonstrating outstanding commitment to their studies
Congratulations to Paula McCracken for winning the overall 100% attendance campaign. At the beginning of the end of term ‘summer’ celebration all potential winning student names were placed in to a hat and one lucky winner was selected by Rowan Cookson, Principal.
This year’s lucky winner was Paula. Paula who is an ex-student of Thamesmead School commented, “I would like to thank the college for giving me the opportunity to win the iPad as it was a great incentive to achieve 100% attendance during my time at Strode's College.
Paula who left Strode’s recently, studied 2 A Levels in ICT and D&T Graphic Products plus a BTEC Sub Dip in ICT and Core Studies. Paula decided on Strode's because of all the good things she had heard about us and that we offered the subjects she was passionate about.
Paula goes on to say, “My favourite thing about Strode's College has been the amount of time that was built into the timetable for homework and revision. Without this, I definitely would have found it harder to complete my A-Levels.”
Paula’s plans after Strode’s are already starting to take place. She has been offered a number of apprenticeships from undertaking a Social Media & Digital Marketing apprenticeship, or a ICT Support & Networking apprenticeship or a Software Developer apprenticeship. Her long term goals are to have a career in the ICT industry and to be able to develop and inspire people in to that industry.
Final word from Paula, “Naturally I was delighted that my name was chosen to win the iPad, and I was extremely grateful to Strode's for providing opportunities to win such amazing prizes. I think that the 100% attendance campaign really helped to motivate me. By having 100% attendance, it enabled me to stay on top of my studies and to receive the necessary help to ensure I succeeded in all my subjects.”
Thank you Paula, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
Good luck with your results and we look forward to hearing about your future successes.
