Dance students wowed audiences on Sunday 18th March at The Wilde Theatre, Bracknell with Eclectic Fusion 5. All Dance students took part in a celebration of dance and music.
The range of courses and styles studied within Strode’s College Dance Department reflects the diversity of the students and their dance backgrounds; from those taking their first dance class to others with many years of experience hoping to pursue a career in the dance and the creative arts’ industries.
Alongside the regular timetabled classes students are offered a wide range of extracurricular opportunities to support their studies. This year students have attended a number of theatre trips, including Grease, Some Like it Hip Hop, Slava Snow Show and Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker. To support the increasing number of students wishing to pursue a career in dance and the creative arts we also attended the Urdang Academy Open Day in London.
Second year Btec Level 3 students have also worked with Sam Foker in developing choreography for “Rolling Stock” and the Sonia Sabri Dance Company in support of their chorographic piece “from Bombay Dreams to Lion King”. 1st Year students have supported their contemporary dance skills in workshops by CandoCo Dance Company and 3 Fall Dance Company.
This year the Dance Department has again been awarded the Council of Dance Education and Training (CDET) Recognised School Award to acknowledge the standards in administration and staff monitoring and delivery of training to dance students across the department.
