Recently, the first year sports students visited the training ground of the London Irish Rugby club. The purpose of this trip was linked to their current BTEC unit, Sports Coaching. The trip provided the students with an opportunity to assess professional coaches and see how they interact with athletes first-hand. The students took this opportunity to put their study techniques into practice by observing the communication and coaching skills they have studied and turning them into real-life situations. This will provide the students with a great example to follow, when they deliver their own coaching sessions for assessment at the end of the unit.
