STRODE’S SPORTS LEADERS LEAD!
Over the past few weeks Strode’s College Level 3 Higher Sports Leaders Award students have been completing their Badminton Officiating Course so that they can become fully qualified Badminton Officials. Surrey Badminton then asked if they could help officiate at the Surrey Championships for Secondary Schools held at Surrey Sports Park.
Carol Bilton (Regional Officer for Surrey Badminton) said:“I just wanted to thank you very much for the excellent support of your leaders yesterday. They did a very good job and certainly made the finals look very professional!” She has asked also if they could bring any of our leaders on the 12th March to the South East Regional Final which will be at Surrey Sports Park.
Sam Ward (School Games Organiser for Active Surrey) said:“Thank you again for bringing your students to support with the Badminton finals yesterday, they were brilliant, and especially professional in their umpiring when it came to the finals.”
We have also been approached by The Magna Carta School regarding help to officiate a Country Cup Quarter Final that they have in the next week. What this highlights is that it is not all about sporting excellence at Strode’s. We have sports volunteers regularly going out into the community and doing amazing things that help promote sport and the young people of the college in a very positive way. These almost become the ‘unsung heroes’ of the highly successful Sports Department and hlights just a small amount that they are doing weekly within the local area.
