Celebrations all round as the 100% attendance campaign reached the finale. Hundreds of Strode’s students turned out in force to be commended again for achieving 100% attendance in every single lesson on their timetable over the past academic year and demonstrating outstanding commitment to their studies
Congratulations to Adam Carr for winning the overall 100% attendance campaign. At the beginning of the Leavers’ celebrations all potential winning student names were placed in to a hat and one lucky winner was selected by Rowan Cookson, Principal.
This year’s lucky winner was Adam. Adam who is an ex-student of The Matthew Arnold School commented, “Thank you for the opportunity to win the iPad Mini 2, it's nice that 100% attendance is acknowledged with such a good prize!”
Adam who leaves Strode’s today, has studied over the last two years AS Biology, Psychology, Sociology and American History and A2 in Psychology, Sociology and American History (also EPQ on Prisons).
Adam decided on Strode's because of all the good things he had heard about us. The location was perfect, just a short train journey away, whilst the array of courses we offered were all very appealing. Adam commented, “Many students I know at Strode's talk about it’s close-knit community atmosphere and how everyone knows each other, which for me, is better than a larger college where knowing the students at a personal level is a lower priority.”
Adam goes on to say, “My favourite thing about Strode's is the togetherness it promotes. All your teachers know you personally and the majority of students also know you. This personal atmosphere is very appealing to me and is definitely my favourite thing about Strode's.”
Adam’s plans after Strode’s are already in place. He is going to Royal Holloway University to study Criminology & Psychology and hopefully after this 3-year degree, he plans to do a Masters in Forensic Psychology.
His long term ambition is to pursue a career within the world of criminology, in particular the police, perhaps with links to Psychology. This career ambition has been a desire of his for many years.
Final word from Adam, “Naturally I was delighted that my name was chosen to win the iPad, and I was extremely grateful to Strode's for providing opportunities to win such amazing prizes, not only at the end of the year, but also throughout the year for many different things, attendance, academic achievement, non-academic achievement, sporting success and departmental specific recognition are just some of the many ways your hard-work and achievement are recognised and rewarded at Strode's.”
Thank you Adam, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
Good luck with your results and we look forward to hearing about your future successes.
