A group of A Level Biology students developed their understanding and appreciation of the natural world by visiting Kew Gardens.
The highlights of the day included visiting the steamy Palm House, the awe inspiring water lilies and the much talked Xstrata treetop walk.
The two main climate zones were the ‘dry tropics’, representing the world’s warm, arid areas and the ‘wet tropics’, housing moisture loving plants from ecosystems such as rainforests and mangrove swamps. Root systems, succulents, aloe vera and spines were discussed as were drip tips and epiphytes.
This trip was extremely successful and students benefitted from knowledge gained.
