15 of our Sports BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma students have just completed the official Boccia leader’s award. The course was designed to cover the important elements of refereeing a game of Boccia including officiating matches and run competitions for young people with special educational needs.

Boccia is the oldest game in the World. It was played by the ancient Greeks and today it is a Paralympic sport, very similar to bowls. It can be played by anyone, players have to be sitting down, but they can roll, throw or kick their ball towards a target jack.

Our newly qualified students recently attended the Level 3 Surrey School Games Boccica Finals at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford where they put their new skills to good use.

It was a great day out for all and the students and look forward to officiating at the regional finals at Canterbury University.
