Students Help the Heroes
All students from the A2 Applied Double Business course organised before Christmasa fundraising week of activities in the College to raise money for their chosen charity, Help for Heroes.
‘We prepared a different event each day. We sold students and staff raffle tickets the whole week both at morning break and lunch times. We had a Cakes and Sweets stall, Penalty Shootout, Tombola and “Name the Teddy” in the morning break where students had to guess the name of the teddy! We had a Help for Heroes stand where we sold wrist bands and asked students and staff to donate money. All team members came to the College Open Evening to help raise more money and the week finished with the grand Raffle Prize Draw for staff and students as well as another cake stand.’
‘We delivered a presentation to both first year and second year students in the Sports Hall during Community Days to raise awareness about our chosen charity. We also had a last minute Lucky Dip Stall and asked for any further donations.’
TheTotal Sum raised: £680.42p
Lindsay Smith, student, says that, ‘It has been a wonderful experience, this charity fundraising week as we have more than achieved our targets’.
‘It was really fun and we were so proud to tell the students at Community Day about all the money we have raised.’ Zach Chatir, student.
‘I am very pleased with the Business Studies students; they all worked so hard to ensure that the fundraising week was so successful! Another benefit of them running such an event is that they all worked effectively as a team; making decisions, using their marketing and management skills as well as having fun raising money for the charity of their choice.’ Rebecca Saville, Business Teacher.
