For the second year in a row, Michael Venables secured an invitation to sit Round 1 of the British Mathematical Olympiad. The Senior Challenge is aimed at all 16-19 year olds studying mathematics and involves the students answering 25 multiple choice questions in 90 minutes under examination conditions.
Michael, who was home educated before coming to Strode’s to study Further Maths, Chemistry’s and English Literature, smashed his previous outstanding result of 104 with a very impressive score of 115 this year. This is a fantastic achievement as only 1000 students across the country scored more than 100, with the top mark being 125.
Well done Michael you performed really well, and just missed out on joining the top 100 UK maths students in Round 2. We at Strode’s are all very proud of you.
