On Saturday 16th August Karen Griffiths (Head of English) and Claire Rapley (PE Tutor) completed the first ever London River Rat Race. The course was a 10k race around central London where they had to run, swim, crawl, jump and wade around a torturous obstacle course including being dunked in and out of the Thames. The most terrifying obstacle the girls came across was jumping 20ft in to the river but they came up smiling (well grimacing) and completed the race in a respectable time.
Sunday found them nursing bruises and grazes but searching online for the next challenge!
The race raised over £50,000 for Shelter. One family is made homeless in the UK every 11 minutes and we are glad that Karen and Claire have help this worthy charity.
Well done girls!
