The Strode’s College team has begun the expedition season with a successful trip to Purbeck in Dorset.
Leaving on Friday 2nd May, Darren Smith (Photography), Stuart Robinson (Art and Design) and Hannah McPhee (Travel and Tourism) took 17 students on a 20 mile round trip for their Silver Practice Expedition.
Everyone left in good spirits and despite the sun on their backs they managed to walk for seven long hours each day. Once they arrived at camp the students had to pitch up, prepare and cook for the evening. On the second day the students did another seven hour hike, this time through a field of very inquisitive cows!
On the final day the students were encouraged to eat as much as possible to maintain their energy levels and complete the expedition. By early morning all of the students had packed up their equipment and were raring to go on the final expedition of the weekend around Swanage.
The fantastic news is that all of the students successfully passed the course and are now prepared to take their assessment in July.
