Students from our A*spire programme, which aims to help the students make the most of their ability and to reach their full potential within the top universities, attended an inspirational talk from 2013 Synchronised Trampolining World Games and World Championship gold medal winner, Amanda Parker.
Amanda fell in love with trampolining at the age of four and hasn’t looked back since due to her ability to make jumping into the pike, tuck or straddle position look easy. Due to this success, Amanda has now been a consistent performer on the world stage gaining numerous accolades.
Amanda paired up with Kat Driscoll and between them have jumped higher up the world ranking, including being the world ranked number one pair in 2011. Individually Amanda was placed second in the Olympic trials and was named as first reserve for the 2012 Games.
Amanda’s presentation to the students was all about staying focussed and working hard to achieve your goals … this is what Strode's wants for all our students. A key quote from Amanda during the afternoon was that “Education is so important and powerful it gets you to where you want to be in the future.”
Fingers crossed that one day one of the current student’s will be back at Strode’s giving their own inspirational talks.
