Strode’s musicians have just taken part in the 27th annual Music Twinning weekend. Following last year’s concert in Germany it was Strode’s turn to host the visiting musicians in Egham.
The big band musicians taking part in the successful concert came from Strode’s College, the Ecole de Musique in Joinville-le-Pont near Paris, and the Max Bruch Musikschule in Bergisch-Gladbach near Cologne. The Strode’s Big Band and the Strode’s College Student Big Band were both involved in the event and expertly led by our own conductor Tony Woods.
All of the bands rehearsed together during the Saturday to ensure that they were ready to put on the joint concert in St John’s Church, Egham. This was a loud, exciting evening of many styles of Big Band jazz, with a dramatic finale featuring some joint pieces from the huge joint Big Band.
