Strode’s College is committed to providing a planned programme of careers education and informed and impartial, information, advice and guidance to which all students are entitled and will have access. Our own fully qualified careers staff, Directors of Faculty and Personal Tutors all contribute to the service.
We can:
- provide advice on the Higher Education application process from providing initial guidance on choosing universities to help with personal statements, open days, mock interviews and completion of application forms.
- arrange visits to specialist conferences and taster courses e.g. medicine, veterinary science, dance, art and design, law and engineering.
- provide information on gap year schemes and placements.
- offer involvement in Aimhigher activities and mentoring project
- provide advice on Oxbridge applications through a specialist Oxbridge tutor.
- offer entry to the Oxford E-mentoring scheme.
- offer help with employment opportunities and career choice.
- provide advice on finding work experience and community service placements
- assist with job applications by providing help with writing a CV, mock interviews and finding job vacancies.
- arrange a one to one consultation with our careers adviser.
Activities during the year include visits to the Higher Education Convention at Surrey University, The Oxbridge Conference and Surrey Job Fair. The College also holds its own Progression Day.
Parents are invited to a Higher Education information evening in the Spring Term so they can be fully involved in the Higher Education process.
We have close links with our local universities of Brunel, Royal Holloway and Surrey, and participate in the Compact scheme with Kingston University which enables students to be admitted by a non-standard route.
