The GUGA Fit Company came to Strode’s College recently to show our BTEC Travel and Tourism students how to plan, deliver, motivate and implement an active fun session for children of all sporting abilities.

The students then put all their training into practice by running a similar session in local schools and clubs as part of a practical assessment for their, “Working as a Children’s Reps.” unit.

The GUGA session gave the students a great insight into the importance of structuring warm up and warm down sessions and the strategies they use to get every child to be involved and enjoy themselves.

Lois O’Connor said, “I really want to work as a Children’s Representative as it seems such a rewarding career and I can imagine these activities would work really well in a holiday club setting.”

Daniel Billings also said that, “Doing the sessions was great as it taught you how much work is involved in running an activity session and it taught me how important it is to project your voice and get involved yourself – the best bit was all the smiles and thanks I got at the end.”
