Jacqui, chair of corporation

Jacqui has worked at Board level for more than 20 years, including having been a Board member for several IT companies and two NHS Trusts and having regularly attended Board meetings for several other public and private sector organisations. She has been HR Director, Corporate Services Director and Operations Director for NHS Trusts, central government Departments and technology, logistics and telecommunications organisations. She is now working as an independent HR consultant. She has a BSc in Mathematics from Imperial College, University of London. Jacqui has two sons who both attended Strode's.

Jacqui has been Chair of the Corporation since summer 2014.

Rowan, principal

Rowan was appointed Principal at Strode's in March 2016 following a period as Acting Principal; prior to that she was Deputy Principal and Assistant Principal at Strode's.

She has previously been Assistant Principal at Farnham College, Senior Tutor at Brockenhurst College, Head of PE Department at Collyer's and PE Teacher at Esher College.

Darren, independent governor

Darren has worked for 14 years as an electro-mechanical engineer in the Automotive Industry working for Tier 1's such as Thysenn Krupp and then OEM's such as Porsche with leadership roles in Project Management, Engineering, Production and Quality. Later working with ~80 of the world's Fortune 200 in the area of process excellence and business strategy. The last 6 years as a senior level leader for BP supply chain with an annual spend of ~$30 Billion per annum.

Outside of BP Darren is currently mentoring start-ups on strategy and value propositions, advisor to Business in the Community, mentor to Career Ready and a Non Executive Director for ABIS Holdings Energy Services Ltd.

Jo, governor

Jo is a partner in a small family run IT training business, in which she is responsible for accounts and administration. Alongside this, she volunteers for Hounslow Council's Special Educational Needs and Disability Information and Advisory Service assisting parents and young people through the statutory assessment process. She has a BA (Hons) in Education and Social Science and an MSc in Social Research Methods.

Jo has two children, her son attends Strode's college and her daughter is studying for her GCSE's and would like to attend in the future.

Jack, student governor

Jack is a student at the college and is an executive on the student union. He attended Thomas Knyvett College in Ashford before coming to Strode's and currently studies Government and Politics, English Literature and Early Modern History A levels.

After completing his A levels, Jack hopes to go to University College London to study History.

Lewis, student governor

As one of two student Governors from 2016/17, Lewis will be able to participate in Governor's board meetings, representing not only the students of the college, but also the young people of the local area. With plans to push this college further, he hopes to leave a legacy that he can be proud of. Lewis has also previously volunteered with the Diana Award's Anti-Bullying Programme, sitting in conference halls and speaking publicly to over 300 men and women in business on a panel about protecting children on the internet. Lewis is also the newly selected Apprentice for the Cooper's Company, of which Henry Strode, the college founder, was a member.

He previously attended The Magna Carta School, and studies English Language, Law and Modern History A Levels here at Strode's College. Lewis has the ambition to study and LLB (Honours) Law Degree but has not yet selected a university."

David, independent governor

David has worked in the field of Health and Safety for the past 25 years. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and a Practioner of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. He has extensive experience in statutory compliance , risk control and incident prevention.

David first moved to the area in 1976 where he has grown up, attending Strode's College before going to university.  He lives in Egham and since May 2012 has been an Independent local councillor for Egham Town Ward . He has two sons who are both currently at Magna Carta School and is active with the Scouts, Egham by Runneymede Historical Society and Egham residents Association.

Rob, independent governor

Rob is currently studying for a mathematics PhD, having retired from a career with Shell which included expatriate assignments in The Netherlands, Greece and Chile. His business experience includes marketing, strategic planning, business process design, project economics and project management.

He is also a volunteer management consultant with the Cranfield Trust, supporting small and medium-sized charities. Rob is married with three children, one already graduated and two still at university.

Carol, independent governor

Carol worked in education for over 20 years first as a teaching assistant and then as a primary school teacher. During this time, she served as a governor at a local school in Ashford for 10 years.

She has been married to John for 35 years with three grown up sons who all attended Strode's College. She now looks after grandchildren and is actively involved in a church in Ashford.

Abigail, staff governor

Abigail has worked at Strode's for approximately 12 years. She has experienced Strode's as an adult student, parent and member of staff.

She is currently working as part of the Information Services department as a Learning Technology Officer.

Roy, foundation governor

Roy was formerly Principal of the Royal Holloway College, University of London from 1981-1985, and then Vice-Principal of the merged institution with Bedford College from 1985 until his retirement. An Egham resident since 1957, he has served as a lay member of Runnymede Borough Standards Committee and has been a Governor of Strode's College and a Trustee of the Strode's Foundation since the 1980s.

His academic interests are mainly, but not confined to, research and teaching in Physics: he also chaired London University's Institute of Classical Studies for 13 years.

Emily, independent governor

A qualified solicitor, Emily is the Group Intellectual Property and Litigation Counsel for Spectris Plc, a multinational technology company headquartered in Egham. Emily has day to day responsibility for managing global litigation and advising the businesses in their strategies to safeguard and exploit their intellectual property and confidential information.

Emily has a PhD in Chemistry and prior to her legal career worked as a research scientist including at Glaxo SmithKline and Syngenta. Emily is a keen hockey player and has been a member of Chertsey Thames Valley Hockey Club for over 10 years where she has held a variety of Committee roles.

Tony, parent governor

Tony was brought up in Old Windsor from the age of 3 and his mother still lives there. His father was a botanist at Royal Holloway College. Tony has two grown up children both in postgraduate education. His third child, Alfie is at Strode's studying Philosophy, Psychology and Biology.

Tony has the Chair of Computational Materials Science in the Physics Department at Kings College London and is also a Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College. He teaches in both of these institutions, including giving a lecture course to first year students at King's College so has experience of students straight out of school. He lives with Alfie and his wife, Sarah Angel, in Twickenham.

Eiry, foundation governor

Eiry is a long-serving Governor at Strode's and a Strode's Foundation Trustee, she is also currently a Governor at St. Ann's Heath Primary and an Associate Governor at Thorpe C of E Primary School. Married with three children, two of whom attended the college, she has lived in Egham for 40 years and before retirement was the Financial Director of a private group of companies based in Egham.

Former Mayor of the Borough of Runnymede Eiry served for 28 years as an Independent Councillor for Thorpe Ward. In 2005 she was made a Freeman of the Borough - one of only six appointees and the only woman to date.

Apart from Local Government she has been very involved with local health organisations, having been a Community Health Council Chairman and a non-executive Director of a Health Authority and subsequently a Primary Care Trust.

She is also a Vice Chair of a Runnymede Borough Health and Well Being Group and a Member of Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals Foundation Trust Patient Panel.

John, co-opted governor

John was formerly Headmaster of the Gunnersbury School, London followed by Principal at St. Charles Sixth Form College, London. He was also a member of the Learning and Skills Council then was appointed a Director of ALPS in 2002.

John attended Liverpool University and was a former Chairman of Governors at two schools and one University College.

John was appointed with a CBE in 2001.

Ali, independent governor

Ali is a Chartered Accountant and is currently Finance Director for Nordson Dage's worldwide operations; he was previously Finance Director of Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Networks and CEO of Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Networks Marine (Denmark).

He has significant experience of board and pension trustee roles and has had day-to-day responsibilities for budgets, forecasts, financial control, tax, treasury, legal books of the company and insurance.

Carey, advisor

Carey is a lifelong marketer and is Managing Director of industry body, The Institute of Promotional Marketing, sitting on the CAP Committee that governs advertising and marketing self-regulation that all marketing communications must adhere to, the CAP Code. Carey's role also extends into the adult education space providing training and qualifications into the creative industries.

Natalie, staff governor

Natalie has worked at the college for 14 years as a History teacher, Personal Tutor and now as one of the Guidance Team Leaders. She has been Staff Governor (Academic) since July 2014.

Kiran, independent governor

Kiran is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years work experience across a number of multinational companies and is currently a Head of Finance at Thomas Cook Group plc. He has extensive experience in technical accounting and controls, management and statutory reporting, planning and analysis and tax and treasury management.

Kiran has two children with his daughter currently studying at Strode's College.

Keith, independent governor

Keith was previously a parent governor having had all four of his children attend Strode's over the past 7 years. In 2015 he was re-appointed as an independent governor.

He has been married to Caroline for 26 years and has have lived in Ashford for almost 10 years. He has been in Christian Ministry for the past 18 years serving in churches in Central London, Chicago and now Ashford. Prior to that he worked in the City of London as a stockbroker. Studied Economics at the University of Birmingham.

Keith is a keen sportsman (running and golf) and football supporter (Liverpool and Exeter City).
